GatherGrounds Resorts has successfully acquired The Oaks Campground, a sprawling 155-acre outdoor retreat located in the vibrant southern region of Michigan. This acquisition marks an exciting new phase for the campground, with plans for a range of enhancements and upgrades under the new management.
The Oaks Campground boasts a prime location adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area, which is the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. This proximity grants guests immediate access to vast natural landscapes and a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Additionally, the campground is conveniently situated just eight minutes away from the public boat launch at Portage Lake, a well-loved all-sports lake that is perfect for boating and various water activities.
Next to the campground lies the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, which is home to numerous bird species that can often be spotted throughout the campground, offering guests a unique and immersive experience in nature.
Under the stewardship of GatherGrounds Resorts, a number of improvement initiatives and additions are on the horizon, including the revitalization of around 120 acres of wooded trails for riding and recreation. These trails are designed to accommodate mountain biking, golf carts, horseback riding, and hiking, providing guests with multiple avenues to discover the picturesque terrain of the property.
Upcoming enhancements also include renovations to the beach area of the on-site swimming lake, featuring the addition of lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court. A Wibit inflatable waterpark is also set to be introduced at the lake, creating an engaging and family-friendly attraction for visitors of all ages.
In addition to the swimming lake, The Oaks Campground has a second lake dedicated specifically to fishing, equipped with several docks. The property also features an on-site camp store that offers firewood, ice, and delicious scooped ice cream, along with two spacious bathhouses that include showers and laundry facilities.
