Champion Among All Under the Cross: A G. Collection by Gary Fields Offers a Powerful Devotional Poetry Journey Rooted in Faith and Endurance

A new Christian poetry collection, Champion Among All Under the Cross: A G. Collection by Gary Fields, offers readers a sincere and deeply reflective exploration of faith shaped through hardship, service, and spiritual perseverance. Written as both devotional literature and poetic testimony, the collection speaks directly to believers seeking hope, renewal, and reassurance during difficult seasons of life.

At its core, Champion Among All Under the Cross centers on themes of redemption, forgiveness, restoration, and unwavering trust in God. Each poem functions as a moment of prayer or reflection, inviting readers to pause and engage with their faith in a personal and meaningful way. Rather than offering instruction, the book creates space for quiet contemplation, making it well-suited for daily devotion, meditation, or group worship settings.

Gary Fields draws from a life shaped by faith in action. His background includes military service in the United States Coast Guard and the United States Army, where discipline, service, and endurance played central roles. Later, serious illness and long periods of physical limitation became defining moments in his spiritual journey. During this time of stillness, poetry emerged not as a creative pursuit alone, but as an expression of prayer and surrender. Lived experience gives the collection a grounded and authentic voice that resonates with readers facing their own struggles.

The Cross stands as the unifying symbol throughout the book. It is presented not only as a representation of sacrifice, but as a place of refuge and renewal. Through verses that address spiritual warfare, repentance, hope, and eternal life, Fields reminds readers that true strength is found beneath the Cross through faith and humility.

Unlike traditional devotionals, this collection allows readers to enter at any point, making it adaptable to individual spiritual rhythms. The poems can be read slowly, revisited often, or shared within church communities and prayer groups. The language remains accessible, ensuring that the message reaches both long-time believers and those seeking renewed connection with their faith.

This book stands as a heartfelt contribution to Christian devotional literature. It offers comfort, encouragement, and spiritual support to readers navigating hardship, loss, or personal reflection. This collection is a reminder that faith lived through endurance can become a source of lasting hope.

About the Author:

Gary Fields was born on November 22, 1959, in Portsmouth, Virginia, one of many brothers and sisters, and the twin to a reflection of his own heart. Raised in a home grounded in faith, discipline, and love, he learned that endurance is not defiance — it is devotion through every trial. A 1978 graduate of Manor High School, he entered the United States Coast Guard that same year, serving aboard the USCGC Taney (WHEC-37) and USCGC Ingham (WHEC-35). His service included work with NASA’s Shuttle Booster Recovery Program and humanitarian efforts during the Cuban Refugee Crisis, where he found that service, joined with compassion, becomes faith in motion. Later, he served in both the Virginia Army National Guard and the United States Army in the Federal Republic of Germany, where duty evolved into devotion and discipline became reflection. In 2008, he faced his greatest crucible — blind for two years, paralyzed for four, and in a wheelchair for six. Yet from that stillness, poetry was born — not of self, but of surrender. Through suffering came song, through silence came renewal. Today, Gary lives as both veteran and vessel — a writer shaped by endurance, a poet guided by grace. His collection, Champion Among All (Under the Cross), stands as testimony that faith is not found in the absence of pain, but in the strength to rise through it.
